Fish Fry at Avenue Club
Fish Fry on Friday nights is a Wisco tradition
We been serving the best fish fry in town since the 1970’s and we plan to keep it that way. Avenue Club always uses Wisconsin’s famous Spotted Cow to ensure we have the tastiest beer battered fish anywhere. Pair our delicious fish fry with your choice of potato, slaw, rye bread, and our amazing homemade tartar sauce for a most memorable meal. Our fish fry is so good that we serve it seven days a week!
Plenty of Fish in the Sea
There are many fish options at Avenue Club, but we feature cod because it is meaty, and it cooks a consistent golden crunchy every time. Guests also have the option to get their cod baked instead of fried. We also offer fried or baked walleye for those who might want to try something different, and occasionally we will have fried perch or bluegill available. One of our other most popular seafood dishes is the Pan Roasted Salmon which is served with crispy smashed baby red potatoes, green beans, and a creamy dill sauce. Hungry yet?
The roots of rye bread paired with fish come predominantly from German restaurants which have been serving fish and rye together in Wisconsin as far back as the 1920’s when the Wisconsin fish fry tradition gained its popularity. While many restaurants have abandoned pairing rye with fish, Avenue Club is proud to continue this delicious tradition. We serve Seeded Jewish Rye from Tribeca Ovens with all of our fish frys.
Avenue Club is the home of Madison’s Best Fish Fry! Of course, that means it might be a little crowded when you come in on a Friday night. Most folks come in for fish fry on Fridays between 6 and 8pm so reservations are recommended for those hoping to dine during peak hours. If you forget to call ahead, feel free to check in with our host and then mosey on over to the Bubble Up Bar for one of our signature Bubble Up cocktails while we get a table ready for you.
