Avenue Tradition
We keep true to the Avenue Bar’s original no-muddle recipe for our Old Fashioneds. While muddling can lead to a more fruity flavor, we prefer extra bitters and always add ice last to ensure all the ingredients are perfectly mixed before your Old Fashioned reaches the table.

Old Fashioned Food Pairings
Try our Original Avenue Bar Old Fashioned paired with the famous Avenue Fish Fry, served seven days a week. The Throwback Old Fashioned pairs great with any of our char-grilled burgers while the Extra Orange Old Fashioned is an excellent compliment to the shrimp scampi.

How We Do It
The Original Avenue Bar Old Fashioned is a time-honored tradition that we are proud to continue as our flagship Old Fashioned. We start by adding 1 teaspoon of sugar to the bottom of the glass, then add 6-8 dashes of bitters, 2 ounces of Korbel brandy, and top with sprite and ice. We garnish with an orange wedge and a cherry to complete this classic masterpiece.

Historically Speaking
The Old Fashioned was developed during the late 19th century and was traditionally made by combining whiskey, rye, or bourbon with bitters, sugar, and water. While an Old Fashioned can technically be made with any spirit, most Wisconsonites are most familiar with the brandy Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned is so old fashioned that they even call the short tumbler glass most cocktails are served in an “Old Fashioned” glass.
